On September 22, 2020, a dear friend of Adventurers Day Camp, Lucas Jensen, tragically passed away. Many of us knew Lucas through his involvement in ADC as an LIT. Lucas loved and cherished his time at ADC, and his family has spent a great deal of time working alongside us to establish an annual award that honours Lucas and his legacy for years to come.
The Lucas Jensen Memorial Bursary is a cash award that honours select Leaders-In-Training who have shown growth in their leadership abilities, take initiative in building community, and are servant-hearted. These are traits that Lucas naturally demonstrated, and we want to remember him through honouring people who have demonstrated them similarly this summer.

Reagan had been an incredible example of mature, Christ-centered leadership at camp. She approached opportunities with humility and a genuine desire to serve, whether through one-on-one, co-leading, or leading in settings like Grace Point. Reagan not only took initiative but also continually sought to challenge herself, showing a willingness to grow and step outside of her comfort zone. She consistently encouraged and uplifted those around her and pointed others towards Christ.
Neve received this bursary because of her humble servant heart and the quiet excellence she brought to her volunteer work as an LIT. She was quick to notice needs within her group and took initiative to fill in the gaps, always supporting her Leaders in whatever way was most helpful. Even while facing challenges with her health, Neve had remained committed, completing every task faithfully without complaint or seeking recognition, making her a true example of Christ-like selfless service.
Luke received this bursary in recognition of his servant-hearted attitude and the consistent dedication he brought to his volunteer work. He was always willing to step in and help with any job, big or small, and he could always be relied on to complete those tasks with care and excellence. What stood out most about Luke was his joyful spirit—he was consistently in a good mood, approached his responsibilities with positivity, and never complained, no matter what was asked of him. His willingness to serve others with reliability and joy made him an incredible asset to the team and a role model of servant leadership within the community.
Owen received this bursary in recognition of his outstanding leadership and dedication to serving others. He consistently demonstrated maturity by leading during devotional and prayer times and encouraging others to genuinely reflect on those things, fostering inclusion among the other boy LITs, and showing a genuine commitment to the ADC program. His willingness to serve wholeheartedly while also challenging himself highlighted both his character and his investment in the community.
Franshesca had shown tremendous growth as a leader throughout camp. She had stepped up with confidence to co-lead and take on new challenges at ADC. She guided campers with both enthusiasm and responsibility. Beyond her group leadership, she had invested in her fellow LITs, taking the initiative to have conversations about leading well. Her leadership was deeply rooted in her faith; she knew her Bible well and consistently engaged in Gospel-centered conversations that encouraged those around her. Over the course of camp, Franshesca had not only proven herself to be a strong leader but had also shown remarkable growth in character, maturity, and spiritual depth.
Ella had stood out at camp for the way she took initiative in building genuine community. She was full of joy in everything she did and naturally brought encouragement to those around her, including her peers and the lead team. What made Ella unique was her intentionality in stepping outside of her own group to connect with a wide range of LITs, making them feel included. Ella’s joyful spirit, genuine care for others, and commitment to creating connections were encouraging.
